The team behind
the camera

We started in broadcast television. We spent years making documentaries, current affairs and factual programmes for national audiences. Then we turned that experience towards the companies that make Britain work — and we haven't looked back.

Our Story

Twenty years of telling stories that matter

Definition Media Ltd was founded in 2007 in Stratford-upon-Avon by Martin Phillis, a former TV documentary producer with a clear vision: bring broadcast production quality to corporate video, and focus it on the sectors that need it most.

Manufacturing and engineering companies in the UK are responsible for extraordinary things — precision components, safety-critical systems, world-class innovation. But for too long, their video content hasn't done justice to that work. Generic talking heads, shaky factory footage, uninspiring screen-grabs. We set out to change that.

Today, we're the go-to video production company for manufacturers and engineers across the UK — from local specialists to global multinationals like ABB. Every project we take on carries the same commitment: make something you're genuinely proud to show a client.

Why We're Different

📡

Broadcast television roots

Our team trained making documentaries for national TV. That means better storytelling, better camera work, better editing — in everything we do.

🏭

Manufacturing specialists

We've spent 20 years on factory floors. We understand your environment, your processes and your safety requirements before we even arrive on site.

🌍

Global production capability

We've filmed across Europe and produced content in six languages. International projects are a specialism, not an exception.

📈

Obsessed with ROI

We ask "what does success look like?" before we pick up a camera. Every creative decision is anchored in your business objective.

How We Work

The principles behind
every project

01

Brief first, camera second

We never pick up a camera until we understand your audience, your objective and your definition of success. A good brief saves time, saves budget and produces better work.

02

Clarity over complexity

Great manufacturing content explains things simply. If a viewer has to watch twice to understand, we've failed. We obsess over clarity — in the script, the visuals and the edit.

03

No surprises

You'll see and approve the script, the storyboard and the rough cut before anything is locked. We communicate throughout the project, not just at the start and end.

04

Build for longevity

We build footage libraries and produce adaptable assets. A well-planned shoot can generate content for months. We help you maximise the return on every production day.

The quality and professionalism was exceptional throughout. Martin and the team understood exactly what we needed, worked seamlessly within our facility and delivered content we've been using for years. I've continued working with Definition Media at subsequent companies.
